Karine Hains: The Aftermath of the Hurricane The Canadiens have got through the worst of the Hurricane, there was some damage i.e. the loss of Jesperi Kotkaniemi and perhaps Marc Bergevin’s pride, but it’s now time to embrace the Habs’ new center Christian Dvorak and look forward to the new season.

For him, right now and at this stage of his development, KK doesn’t deserve that kind of money. He even added that no-one in hockey would say his former number 15 was worth that much.

kinda hard to argue against that lol

and to come back on the extension kk could sign, yes. someone here mentionned last week that offersheets should have a minimum of 3 years to prevent that kind of entourloupette

probably but the point of an offer sheet is to overpay in general

when you see how much they spend on 4th liners, he would have match that one

but still, I think they wanted Dvorak anyway and it was not all sunshines and rainbows with KK

Bergevin mentioned that the pressure of him playing in MTL with that kind of contract on his back was considered in his decision of not matching, and rightfully so.

to be honest though it almost feels like both teams lost with this offer sheet lol

Getting Dvorak is a nice recovery for MB. Dvorak had some offensive flair when he played with Taylor Hall. Some good wingers could elevate his offensive game. He has some negatives. Ideally, he’s a 3C. But on teams weak down the middle like the Habs and Wild, you gotta play him top 6 where he is a fringe player. I hope he does well but you have to have realistic expectations. Great contract and term.

Dvorak is more of a 3+ than a 2-
we still need a 2C

I'm not sure Habs lost tbh. time will tell.
they made a very bad pick at #3 3 years ago, but what is done is done. not matching and trading for Dvocrak was the thing to do. admit you made an error, move on.

The GM clearly wanted to sign the young Finn to a bridge deal to be able to assess him better in the future, but the Hurricanes’ move robbed him of that opportunity.

He had a month between losing Danault and the offer sheet being made. Bergevin tried to lowball KK and didn't thank an offer sheet was coming.

MB wasn't robbed. He gambled and lost. And the insinuating that the Canes promised an extension is sour grapes by the GM who got played.

well we don't know how good kk will be for the canes, if they will extend him, etc. He won't even play there as a C.

How good Dvorak will be in mtl? What about the picks? Where will they end up?Why does Timmins has a job? Am I really a chicken? Etc.

oh if you factor in Dvorak then it isn't that terrible for the habs, but when considering solely the offer sheet Jesperi came out as the only clear winner

Kind of looks like the Flyers signing 21 yr old Farabee for 6 years is a reaction to the KK situation.

you said he was a 2 - two days ago

maybe you are right but I want to see him play first

40 points on the third line seems like a lot for a C in a cap world
